Leverage changes for stocks

Hi Deriv Community,

We’re writing to inform you of an important update to our stock trading leverage that might affect your trading strategy.

From 19 April 2024, the leverage for trading stocks on our platform will change from 1:50 to 1:10. This means you’ll need to have more funds available to open and maintain positions.

This update applies to both your current positions and any new trades you’re planning to make. We encourage you to review your portfolio and manage your trades carefully in light of how this change impacts you.

Here’s a quick way to calculate your margin requirement:

Margin = Volume * Contract Size * Open Price / Leverage

Remember:

  • The contract size for all US and EU stocks is 1.
  • Your new leverage will be 10.

To view the open prices of your current positions, refer to the first “Price” column (next to “Volume”) in the MT5 terminal’s Trade Tab. For new trades, the Market Watch on MT5 will have the info you need.
